Bank Alfalah partners with KMC, IET for urban forestry project in Karachi
Karachi: Bank Alfalah has partnered with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Indus Earth Trust (IET) to launch an urban forestry project at Ibn-e-Qasim Park, Clifton, with an initial contribution of PKR 3 million.
An MoU was signed by Atif Bajwa, President & CEO, Bank Alfalah, and Aijaz Ali Abro, CEO, IET. The initiative will begin with the development of a plantation area within the park to reduce urban heat, improve air quality, support biodiversity and enhance Karachi’s climate resilience.

“Parks are the lungs of every city, and Karachi needs more of them,” said Mr. Bajwa. “Together with our partners, we are proud to support initiatives that expand the city’s green spaces.”
Afia Salam, President, IET, said the project demonstrates how public-private collaboration can support ecological restoration through native species and community participation.
At the event, Bank Alfalah also unveiled its fourth Annual Sustainability Report, highlighting PKR 24 billion in green financing and PKR 75.2 billion in SME financing.
