Families Head North to Escape the Heat: inDrive Reports 54% Surge in Summer Travel

Karachi: inDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform, reported a significant spike in summer travel as families headed north to escape the heat. Routes connecting Islamabad to hill stations were among the busiest on the network in the first half of 2026.

The platform recorded a 54% increase in intercity rides and a 54% increase in distance travelled compared to the same period last year. The surge aligns with the school summer break, with travel peaking through June and July.

Average estimated one-way fares from Islamabad range from PKR 4,000 to Murree to PKR 11,500 to Naran, giving travelers price clarity upfront. Murree, Nathia Gali, Abbottabad, Naran, Muzaffarabad, and Swat featured among the most popular routes. The Islamabad-Murree route showed a clear weekend pattern, with orders peaking on Saturdays at 11 AM.

Shared Rides also grew, rising from 14.9% to 18.0% of completed trips year-on-year.

“Families are choosing inDrive because it’s affordable and takes them door-to-door without the stress of driving,” said Awais Saeed, Country Manager, inDrive Pakistan.
