Ismail Suttar Advocates Universal Equal Opportunities Across Export Industries, Beyond Focus on 5 Sectors
Karachi: Ismail Sattar, President of the Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), expresses concerns about the government’s economic policies amid the global economic landscape. He highlights the hindrances posed by the exclusive focus on five zero-rated export sectors and the prioritization of policies, urging a reconsideration of this approach.
Sattar appeals to the government for an expanded zero-rated facility, advocating equal tax and duty concessions for all export sectors. Emphasizing the importance of inclusivity, he calls for a more comprehensive strategy to enable diverse sectors to actively contribute to the nation’s economic development.
His plea aims to foster a more equitable distribution of contributions to the national treasury, allowing each sector to participate according to its individual capacities. Sattar urges the government to adopt a broader perspective that facilitates the growth and involvement of all export sectors in the country’s economic development.
President LCCI rejects the government’s policy of exclusively prioritizing five export sectors, arguing against the concentration solely on textiles, carpets, sports goods, surgical, and the leather industry for benefits aimed at boosting exports.
