“Pakistan and China Forge Deeper Ties: 23 MoUs Inked Spanning Industry, Energy, Agriculture, and More”
Islamabad: On Friday, Pakistan and China solidified their collaboration by sealing 23 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) across various sectors such as transport infrastructure, industry, energy, agriculture, media, health, water, socioeconomic development, and more. The agreements were formalized subsequent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s discussions with his Chinese counterpart, Li Qiang, during delegation-level talks in Beijing. Highlighting the enduring Pakistan-China Strategic Cooperative Partnership, characterized by mutual trust, shared principles, and strategic governance, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch relayed the details during her weekly press briefing.
Both parties further affirmed steadfast support for each other’s fundamental concerns and reiterated their dedication to the high-quality advancement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), along with the timely completion of ongoing ventures. Emphasizing the shield of the CPEC from detractors and adversaries, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Chinese personnel and projects within its borders. Additionally, both nations pledged to sustain high-level dialogues, reinforcing institutional connections across all levels and domains. They also committed to ongoing consultations on bilateral and global issues, particularly during Pakistan’s forthcoming two-year term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from 2025 to 2026.
The spokesperson highlighted that since his arrival in China, the prime minister has engaged extensively with Chinese investors and entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan. During various meetings and events, including a Business Forum in Shenzhen, he actively encouraged Chinese companies to consider investments and foster joint ventures in Pakistan. Notably, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have been inked with Chinese firms spanning the economy, green energy, textiles, and manufacturing sectors. Prior to embarking on his five-day visit to China, the prime minister underscored in an interview with Chinese media his commitment to fostering mutually beneficial investments. He emphasized, “We approach this with serious intent. Through our engagement, we aim to secure returns that will not only benefit Chinese and Pakistani enterprises but also elevate our bilateral relations to unprecedented heights, surpassing even the tallest peaks and delving deeper than the oceans.”
