Prime Minister Pushes for Swift Privatization of PIA
In a meeting held on Monday to address the financial challenges facing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized the need for expediting the privatization process of the national carrier. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure the completion of this process within the specified timeline.
PM Kakar further requested regular progress reports to be submitted to him on this matter. He assured that the government will maintain its support to PIA until the privatization process is successfully concluded.
He said the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), which were facing financial loss, would be privatized to save the national exchequer.
The prime minister was given a briefing on the financial situation of PIA.
The meeting was attended by interim federal ministers including Shamshad Akhtar and Fawad Hussain Fawad, Adviser on Aviation Air Marshal (retd) Farhat Hussain, and officials concerned.
