Parts of Pakistan Experience Social Media and Internet Services Outage
On Sunday evening, widespread outages and connection errors hit Pakistan, affecting popular social media platforms and internet services. Users faced difficulties accessing Twitter (now known as X), Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Google services, and the internet service provider PTCL. Notable spikes in connection outages were observed on platforms like YouTube, X, and Facebook, according to downdetector’s graphs.
NetBlocks, a global internet observatory, confirmed a nationwide disruption to social media platforms in Pakistan, including connectivity issues with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The observatory highlighted the extensive scale of the disruption, impacting the entire nation.
As of now, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not officially disclosed the reason behind the widespread outage. No statements have been issued by the PTA, leaving users and the public without official information on the cause of the disruptions. The sudden and widespread nature of the outages has raised concerns, prompting an increased demand for information regarding the status and resolution of the connectivity issues.
